Plastic-steel gear hub motor: the future of high-performance electric drive solutions
Against the backdrop of rapid development of various application scenarios such as electric bicycles, electric freight vehicles, electric mountain bikes, and electric beach cars, the technology of hub motors continues to advance. Among the many key components, the material and structure of the gear system have become one of the core factors affecting the performance and life of the motor. Although traditional nylon gears are light, they are prone to wear under long-term, high-load, and high-torque conditions, becoming a bottleneck that restricts performance. This is exactly where the Plastic-Steel Gear Hub Motor came into being.
Plastic-steel composite gears hub motor have excellent torque carrying capacity, which is 5 times higher than traditional nylon gears. In traditional nylon gear systems, long-term high-torque operation can easily lead to tooth surface wear and fracture. Plastic-steel gears use metal reinforced cores to enhance the overall structural strength, giving them a load capacity 5 times that of ordinary nylon gears. HENTACH's S-Type Pro series motors can still maintain long-term stable operation of gears at a rated power of 1500W and a peak torque of more than 145Nm. Ordinary plastic gears are very easy to wear or even break in applications with power exceeding 750W, especially in frequent starting and heavy-load climbing. Plastic-steel gears are enhanced with heat-resistant and fatigue-resistant designs, so that the motor can stably support continuous output of 1000W or even 1500W. It meets the needs of applications with high power requirements such as E-Cargo and E-Fat. It supports continuous high torque output of more than 100Nm. In actual applications, scenes such as ramp climbing and acceleration on slippery ground will frequently trigger peak torque. Traditional gears wear very quickly in this case, resulting in reduced motor efficiency and increased abnormal noise. HENTACH's plastic-steel gear structure can withstand long-term high torque output of 100~145Nm, and the tooth surface wear is extremely low, which greatly improves the running stability of the motor. Plastic-steel gears combine high-temperature resistant lubricating materials with high-hardness metal skeletons, have better impact resistance and thermal stability, and their service life easily exceeds 40,000 kilometers. There is almost no need for gear maintenance or replacement during the service life, which is particularly suitable for operational scenarios. At the same time, it has self-lubricating ability, and no additional grease is required in daily operation, reducing pollution and maintenance requirements.
E-Cargo usually has heavy loads and works continuously for a long time. The plastic steel gear motor has high torque, long life and strong stability. E-Fat usually needs high explosive power when driving on complex terrain. The plastic steel gear motor can enable E-Fat to carry large torque and withstand harsh environments. EMTB usually needs to start frequently when climbing slopes. The plastic steel gear motor can well meet its various needs.
